SESSIONS
At 1:45 p.m. on Thursday, June 5, Birney and UTC Corp Assistant Controller of Financial Reporting and Analysis John Stantial will provide a demonstration of the tools they use to process financial data using XBRL. (limited to 24 financial reporting executives).

The session is a follow-up to Stantial's 11:30 a.m. session, at which he will discuss his company’s experience with XBRL; UTC partcipated in the SEC's voluntary program.

Matthew Birney Matthew Birney is a manager in the United Technologies Corporation corporate office Financial Reporting Department. He and his department are responsible for consolidating and reporting financial data to meet SEC and other government agency filing requirements. His department maintains the UTC Financial Manual, which provides US-GAAP financial reporting guidance to the corporation’s reporting entities around the world, and works with the SEC and other public companies in connection with UTC’s participation in the SEC’s XBRL voluntary filing program.

Prior to joining UTC, Matthew was a Senior Manager in the Assurance Practice of KPMG LLP where he audited public and private companies within the aerospace and government defense contracting industries. He joined KPMG in 1997 after graduating from Boston College with a BS in Accounting and Computer Science.

Matthew is a certified public accountant, a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and works on the AICPA’s XBRL Assurance Task Force.
